Demonstrate a systematic understanding and critical appreciation of theories and models of creativity, innovation and change management in the context of contemporary organisations.

Synthesise individual and organisational theoretical perspectives to systematically promote the potential for creativity, innovation and change in practice.

Aims and learning outcomes determine the need to develop a critical understanding of how creativity and innovation might be promoted and sustained, including the effective management of change. You will produce two assignments that demonstrate all learning outcomes.

Assignment 1
An in-depth critical analysis of individual blocks and organisational barriers to organisational creativity and innovation in the context of your work organisation. You will need to include an in-depth literature review critically evaluating alternative contemporary perspectives in order to draw meaningful conclusions and develop feasible recommendations to the organisation. You will present your analysis and plan in a 1500-word report fully supported by quality academic sources.

Both assignments are located in the context of your work organisation to ensure relevance.
A random sample of students might be called to attend a viva to ensure the authenticity of your work

- Demonstrate an adequate critical knowledge and understanding of challenges and opportunities in promoting organisational creativity and innovation.
- Synthesise adequate alternative perspectives of influential contemporary theorists, contributors and models.

In this unit you will develop a critical appreciation of the opportunities to promote creativity and innovation in your work organization and the associated challenges. Identification of opportunities and challenges requires a focus on the literature and demands critical analysis of internal issues (individual blocks and organisational barriers).

1. You will critically analyse and evaluate individual blocks and organizational barriers in the context of your work organization

2. You will need to include an in-depth critical analysis supported by quality academic sources introduced in guided learning and extended through independent research, critically evaluating alternative contemporary perspectives in order to draw meaningful conclusions and develop feasible recommendations.

3. You will present your analysis plan in report format of approximately 1500 words (+/-10%) excluding references and appendices.

4. Concise report writing is an important business skill. You will need to do the analysis in the context of your organization before you start to write the report.
